Dear friends, the winter holiday season is very special, and for many—especially kids—the best time of the year. For The Vagabond Prince perfume house, this is also a birthday! One year ago we introduced our beloved creation, Enchanted Forest. We are now celebrating our first birthday and giving gifts to our readers.

Our gifts: two hand-painted flacons of Enchanted Forest (EDP 100 ml)
and 100 samples.

"When we just started forming the idea of Enchanted Forest, I wished to paint every single bottle. It was impossible to realize, because we wanted to share our beautiful Forest with as many people as we could reach. I created my own design for the bottle and for the box instead, although the desire to decorate flacons with my hand induced me to take blank flacons and paint my hohloma on them. I painted two so far, together with matching stands, enjoying every stroke. I hope their future owners will love them, too."—Elena Knezevic

These limited editions of Enchanted Forest (together with the stands) we are giving away as our birthday and your New Year's gift to two Fragrantica readers. The perfume inside is the same Enchanted Forest, as beautiful as before. Decoration is made in the hohloma style.

We have also prepared 100 samples for giveaway! Every one of our 100 winners will get a two-sample set of Enchanted Forest. Here is a little reminder of what we are talking about:

Top notes:

pink pepper, aldehydes, sweet orange (traces), flower cassis,
blackcurrant leaf, hawthorn, effects of rum and wine, rosemary, davana.

Heart notes:

blackcurrant buds absolute (by LMR from Grasse), CO2 blackcurrant (by Floral Concept from Grasse), Russian coriander seed, honeysuckle, rose, carnation, vetiver

Base notes:

opoponax resinoid, Siam benzoin, amber, oakmoss, fir balsam absolute, Patchouli Purecoeur®, castoreum absolute, cedar notes, vanilla, musk

Elena Knezevic is the Editor-in-Chief and co-founder of Fragrantica, which she started with Zoran Knezevic in 2007. Bottles are enchanting just as juice in them. I love the regular bottle,too.I was lucky enough to try the perfume.I really love the way how B.Duchaufour uses blackcurrant in Enchanted Forest. However, hand-painted flacon is art itself.

This one changes on me as I purchased numerous samples to make sure I was interested. At first it smells like a juniper tree/bush. It really does !
It then evolves into an amazing masterpiece, hard not to keep smelling the area applied to.

I cant say that I have smelled to many others like it, that's my favorite characteristic about Enchanted Forest.

At first sight the bottles remind me an Easter egg (a Russian or Polish Easter egg) ...then I remembered the 'Troika' fairy tales ...never seen a perfume bottle like that it's SPLENDIFEROUS ...it's a unique handmade piece of art. These are gorgeous examples of the arabesque shapes of East meeting West - the Sun and the Mood - wonderful opposites in lyrical forms swooping over each other like music. I'm lucky to own enchanted forest even though Elena just spilled that the bottle I have is probably not hand painted by her. Little over a year ago Elena you said you would paint them all!!. Anyways I am forever grateful for your majestic creation. I have always loved black currant and with this I get myself lost in the wilderness of the Russian winter , it's very exciting for me being African and born and raised in tropical Nigeria. Lastly thanks for creating a great fragrance that really lasts. The greatest disappointment you can have with a great frag is longevity. When is your next creation due out? I am now a big fan. Also I wouldn't mind winning one of these haha *wink*

These perfumes, although I did not try them, reminds me of one story about woman named Anastasia, living in a Russian taiga. As the story says, Anastasia lives in complete harmony with nature, surrounded by cedar trees and animals as friends and helpers in same time. She is complete human being, what should actually be a man of high ideals, created in the image of God.
I have feeling that these beautiful bottles, hiding this story inside themselves.
Also must say that my ‘roots’ come from magical place (where is my father born; Foca, near Sarajevo), where are high mountains and crystal clear rivers. When I used to read a book about Anastasia, I was thinking about that place as my own taiga :)
I live in Belgrade now, but magic from my father’s birthplace will live in my heart forever. I am a child of mountains and rivers and will live in nature soon.

It would be a great to have one sample of this perfumes, to remind myself about magic of nature which lies deep in my heart, and in heart of everyone of us.

The artist must have been inspired by the far flung magical places of Prague, Budapest, India. A timeless Bohemianesque spirit to the bottle. I'm very interested to smell the fragrance inside. I imagine myself in one of these places circa 18th century. I'm walking along a wet cobble stone street holding hands with my lady on a misty evening.I hear the sounds of people's laughter, horse and carriage passing by and the light from the black gas lanterns illuminates my love's red lipstick glistering off her white smile as she glances up at me seduced by this magical scent.

My father collected the old Russsian Lacquer Boxes (PALEKH) and sold them in his shop in Holland. I've admired the paintings with foxhair (implanted under a nail) as a child dreamed away with these boxes. Now, after years of art academy and years of working as art designer and teaching art i still admire them.

Now when I know a little more about Fragrantica founders, I feel like I fall in love with the site more and more. Wish there was site for make up, polishes and stuff like that too. I love Russia (my native country) and love all former Yugoslavia countries, particularly Serbia... Not even sure why, just that unconditional love that all these nations have to each other, I guess :)
I am not sure about this fragrance because I am not good at judging scents based on their descriptions but I have to say that design is gorgeous! So authentic and not tacky "klukva" (term for stereotypes foreigners have about Russia) :) Love it!

Amazing story. Sounds just like me to want to paint every bottle, and end up with 2...giggles. They are so alike, yet so different. What made you decide to add matching stands? I think that's a marvelous idea for the person who sees these bottles more as art than perfume. I collect alot of perfume bottles because I think they're beautiful. The complex blending of these notes and scents definitely appeal to me.

I go through phases of 'citrus' 'floral' 'woody' 'funky' and back again. Enchanted Forest seems to hit just about every one of these scents, in a nicely layered experience. Bravo - I would love to be a recipient of this drawing.

Such an amazing job painting the bottles. That would be actually fun. Kind of like making your own Christmas ornaments or coloring eggs. The perfume juice is equally as great. I really hope to win this competition. Cause I like the blend of fir and blackberry it is a great idea. So magic. I d like to finally test on me this juice. I also like the concept of the Hand made bottle. That give to a perfume.. that elevate the perfume to what is born to be: an intimate object of private lux.

I guess all notes blended as above creates an intricate (in positive way) ambience, a perfume that will give people including myself a sense of wonder. What I love most about Fragrantica is how I learn something new everyday! Today, I learned about traditional hohloma painting because of this post. I have bowls painted in the hohloma style in my house that my stepfather gave to me because I love to paint. They belonged to his parents who immigrated from Lithuania. I believe they may have been souvenirs from their honeymoon in Russia, so they are quite old. Until now, I never knew what this type of painting was called. Thank you so much for teaching me something new and thank you for the opportunity to win one of these gorgeous painted bottles. Who ever wins one of those will have a true treasure to cherish.

Elena, the bottles are stunning! I just wrote a review for this scent today. It took me a year to do it but it's such an unusually striking scent. It would have been useless and foolish to write up something hastily so I'm glad I spent a year getting to know Enchanted Forest.
