Brian Kirk who is best known for directing a good number of ‘Game of Thrones’ episodes is in early talks to direct the upcoming ‘Thor 2’ movie from Disney and Marvel Studios as reported by Marc Graser of Variety. Aside from his work on the HBO hit series, Kirk also has handled several episodes of Showtime’s ‘Dexter’, ‘Boardwalk Empire’ and ‘Great Expectations’.

If negotiations push through, ‘Thor 2’ will be Kirk’s directorial debut of a big-budgeted film. He rose to fame with his skill to handle a large number of actors and complex narratives on the TV projects he handled.

‘Thor 2’ is set for a July 26, 2013 release, and will require a large cast of the Norse-mythology Aasgardians and other beings. Kenneth Branagh, who was invited to direct another ‘Thor’ movie, refused to accept the job. Rather, he’s up for a directorial job for Fox 2000’s the ‘The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society’, this from a report by Rachel Abrams of Variety.
