    caponard rally wheel conversion?

So, couldn't help but notice the caponard trail is sporting spoked wheels with a 19in up front. It seems that the trail and rake on this tweaked model are the same as the dd1200's 4.6 in of trail with the rake for the dorso at 27.3 vs 27.4, does this mean that this could be a potentially easy swap? What about the rear wheel? Any ideas input? Having spoked wheels with offroad tire options could really make this thing a dirt devil.

Yeah, but the 1200cc version haha. I saw that build on the advrider forum, the owner never did make a whole lot of comment on the handling, just that the steering flopped over easier when parking. :/ From what I am gathering from the nord'1200 side of things, it seems that its necessary to fit the curved radiatior from the rally in order for the front wheel to have enough clearence under full suspension compression. Sigh, its not looking like the conversion would be as simple or inexpensive as I'd first hoped.

I would imagine that the bike would be a hell of a handful in the dirt anyway.I used to have a 250 kawi that was a great dirt bike and figured a dual purpose 650 would be a great ride and I would have the best of both worlds but the first time I took my 650 to the dirt track by where I lived it turned out it was a crappy dirt bike.It worked great on the dirt back roads and paved roads but was to heavy to get into the really rough stuff with. How do you think it would work with set of the continentals?Does the 19 inch wheel make that much difference?I ask because I've seen some of the super moto bikes set up with knobbies on 17 inch and they seem to do fine at least on dirt roads.

These bikes are definitely a handful off road. To be honest after owning two 750's and now this 1200, they have proven to be quite capable machines. Obviously I'm not riding over large rocks or deep mud, but have managed some pretty steep grades on dirt and loose gravel, even a few stream crossing's. The cast wheels just force me to be a little more cautious than I would like to. Besides the spoked wheels look really sharp and the whole tire option thing would be a plus. The bike is really fun on packed gravel and hardpack dirt and could imagine the tkcs would be a vast improvement offroad, but I don't like the idea of those huge knobbs throwing tons of dirt and rocks. I actually prefer the pr3's to the scorpion trails. Ideally I would like to end up being able to run a good 70/30 tire, like a gripster or a scorpion at.
