What we do : free for all on the ice lance pop for the first person to intercept it (anything ranged dps or healer, just intercept asap). Then a second person comes into the line, in front of the current stacker (again, free for all style, people have a functionnal brain). The two people line people back to back on the lances track. Then "back person" start moving forward throught the "front person" when the "back person" has like 3-4 stacks, and be sure he goes forward enough to not get hit again, and actually loose the whole stack of debuff. Then rince and repeat.

Range dps and healers should all stand in the ice lance and form lines so when first one gets 4 stack he just moves to the side and another player takes it.

In frost phase you can use hunter with aspect in order to run faster but your dps will be low. Keep just behind the wall, make one cast to the pillar and run again. Also split the raid into two groups in order to dps the pillars equally.

Most guilds killing HM Hagara put their ranged in the middle and heal through the bubble damage using cooldowns. From there, you target the ice pillars as a group and make sure not to kill the ones your melee on the outside are traveling to. Sounds like you're not doing that.

Also, you need to start her in the Lightning phase every time because if you do it right, the Lightning phase takes like 5 seconds after the elemental dies.

You don't "cheat" the damage, you heal through it. It's quite a bit of healing, but definately possible, with some additional raid cooldowns.

We always smoke bomb one ice lance per phase, it completely eliminates the need to move around. Also you can grounding totem the shatter ice (it wont catch ice lance only shatter.) For ice wall phase just stack your ranged and healers right beside hag in the middle and tee off. Not that bad to heal if everyone is stacked.

Keep in mind grounding totem only works on the shamans group. So if you only have 1 sham theres only a 50% chance it will be absorbed.

Is there some way to control whether she goes to lightning or ice? If so, I'm not aware of it.

Look at her weapons before you pull. If the enchants look like snow then you'll go to frost phase first. If they look like lightning you'll go to lightning phase first.

If you don't like the phase you're going to get then reset her (vanish, feign death, invisibility, etc).

No, the exploit was using things like Stampeding Roar to negate the debuff entirely and sit in the bubble without taking any damage. Healing through it with the use of cooldowns is entirely acceptable.

Yes, if she starts with lightning imbuing her axes, then she's going into lightning phase first. If not, reset her.

What do you guys do to manage the random and massive spike damage? What strategies are helpful to keep overall stacks low? She seems to favor ranged targets, and seems to favor targets with high stacks. So anything over 4 appears like a death warrant. But since the ice lances kind of "track" you for the first few moments after you step out of their path, keeping all 10 raiders' stacks at 2 or less seems unmanageable for us atm.


Second question - do you have any tips for improving damage on the ice pillar phase? Once the walls are up, we find our damage on the ice pillars is very low. Any specific tips for destro lock? Hard casting a soul fire is virtually impossible, and even an immolate is hard. That pretty much puts my DPS at 0.

Shattered Ice targets targets within a 180 degree cone infront of her. Make sure everyone other than your tank are 100% behind the boss and that solves your Shattered Ice problem.

In the frost phase, assign one crystal for everyone to zerg at the start, you should easily be able to kill one at least. Then Bane of Havoc one, and all you can do is Corruption them as you're running around, Shadowflame if it's off cooldown and spam Fel Flame. The more crystals dead, the slower the walls move. Once two are dead you should be able to start Immolating with Conflags. But once two are dead the other two should be about to die also.

So for stacking inside the bubble...you do this with two or three healers?
