Awards fever!

The New Year is sure to be packed with glitz and glamour as the 20th edition of the much-awaited Zee Cine Awards will be held on January 6, 2013. And to celebrate 20 glorious years, the awards will be held in Mumbai at the Yash Raj Studios. The show will mark the first award show of 2013 and will be telecast on Zee TV and other Zee channels on January 20, 2013. In a press conference held at Panchgani, actor Shah Rukh Khan, Deepika Padukone and managing director and CEO of ZEEL, Punit Goenka announced the event and promised to make it better and bigger. “For the first time, the show will also be simulcast on Zee Cinema, Zing, Zee Marathi, Zee Bangla, Zee Telugu and Zee Tamil,” stated Goenka.

Shah Rukh, who will be hosting the show again said, “It’s an honour to be associated with Zee Cine Awards. My career and the channel started almost at the same time, and it has been a good 20 years.” The actor also divulged a little about the show format, though he maintained that most of it is still in the planning process. “There will certainly be a tribute show to Yashji…,” said the actor revealing that he is likely to do an act with the leading ladies from Yash Raj films.

Whether we will see Deepika co-hosting the show with SRK, is still uncertain. However, on being asked if she would, the actor replied, “I am not very good at it but maybe if Shah Rukh gives me some training I could (smiles).” She continued, “Actually I don’t like hosting shows that much…but I don’t mind performing.” Both King Khan and Deepika also expressed their concern for the Delhi rape victim who’s battling for life, and urged for stricter law measures pertaining to the same.
