Hikvision Raptor 5.1

Recommended Posts

I just re-checked to see if this Hikvision Mac plug-in really works. I tried to view my camera on my wife's Macbook Pro which has not had the plug-in from Hikvision installed. I got the "missing plug-in" message. I then downloaded the Mac plug-in and installed it on her computer. The instructions say that you should quit your browser before installation. This may be an important step? Anyhow, I installed and restarted Safari. When I restarted Safari and went to my camera sign-in I got a security message asking if I "really want to use the WebVideo Plugin in this site". I clicked in the affirmative. Now I am able to view the webpage for my camera and view the video with "Web Components" which is the default that comes up with Safari now. Previously, "QuickTime" was the default.

Do this and I think you can get it all working: Go to Safari Preferences and select the Security tab. At the bottom make sure "Internet plug-ins: Allow Plug-ins" is checked. Then click on "Manage Website Settings....". In the left hand column select "WebVideoPlugin". If you've done everything properly in the right panel under "Allow websites to use this plug-in with the settings below:" you should see your camera ip log-in listed under "configured websites". To the right should be selected "Allow" or "Always allow".

Let me know if you have trouble with this. I've now configured two Macs running Mavericks in this fashion with no problems.

John

addendum: By the way– I have no problem viewing the camera page in Firefox under Mavericks or under Firefox while running Windows 7 in Parallels.

In fact, under Mavericks, Firefox seems much faster and responsive than does Safari.

I SHOULD POINT OUT THIS: I didn't use the download link that was posted here for the Mac plug-in. I got the plug-in here:

http://www.hikvision.com/en/download_more.asp?id=1192

Maybe this makes a difference?

Sorry that I didn't point this out earlier.

Yes, that did the trick. The one previously posted did not work, said video failed.

Also, and this is a Mavericks issue. In Lion, it told me this plugin is from a unknown developer but gave me the option to open it anyway. In Mavericks, it just gives me an OK button, but no option to open it. I had to go into System Preferences, Security and there it was, showed the plugin name that was logged and gave me the option there to allow it.

I have just upgraded my cams to V5.1 and besides the nice new features it seems to me that Dynamic Analysis is not working...

For the Dynamic Analysis to work you need to set this:

Local Configuration > Rules > Enable

I have a Hikvision DS-2CD2732F-I and a WD My Cloud 4TB NAS. Yes, I read that it may or may not work but I thought I’d give it a try now that Hikvision’s firmware (5.1) supports NAS with SMB/CIFS, and not just NFS. Unfortunately, under “Storage Management”, the My Cloud shows up as “offline” if I select NFS, or SMB/CIFS without also making the drive private and password protected. Then, and only then can I format, and it formats fine, albeit with datadirxx directories as described by others. And while if I don’t mess with it, and if there is motion, the video actually gets written to the My Cloud. But touch anything and the My Cloud goes right back to “offline”, requiring a reformat to be usable.

I’ve tried v5.1.0 build 131202 (release), v5.1.0 build 140217 (beta), and v5.0.0 build 130412 (NFS only).

I haven’t been able to format it as NFS, and when trying to use the patch described in Heuer’s post, above, davinci has not been extracted from the tar, so I can’t edit it. I’ve pulled davinci.tar.gz out and then extracted the davinci from it, and the string specified cannot be found. This is with build 131202 and 140217. I assume that the extracted davinci gets patched with this string only when the drive is NSF, and since I can’t seem to get it to appear online when NSF is selected, I’m totally unsuccessful.

Are there any other tricks I could use to get the WD My Cloud working with the Hikvision software? Or, if the problem is on the camera end, what are the odds of Hikvision fixing their software to be compatible with the My Cloud? I’m trying to determine if I should send the My Cloud back but if this is a problem on the Hikvision side, I don’t want to waste time and money trying to find a NAS that’ll work with the Hikvision if none will perform any better than the My Cloud.

Barring that, is there a known, good NAS that’ll work with the Hikvision cameras? I don’t really care if it is NFS or CIFS, I just need to be able to access its video files from Windows Explorer, an ftp client, or from the Hikvision tablet apps.

For V5.1 you need to search for 5001DCC09DE54900001A0B005CE14700001A and change it to 5001DCC09DE5000000000B005CE100000000

That did it. I have the Hikvision reliably writing video to a 4TB WD My Cloud when motion is detected. Even after multiple reboots/power downs for both the My Cloud and Camera.

That's your I Frame Interval, and most people usually set it to match their Frame Rate (Liczba klatek). I have mine set at 15 and 15 and the camera seems to work fine.

Mines set at 50

My understanding is that an I-frame refreshes the whole image, and each frame in between only records changes from the original I-frame (kind of like an incremental thing) until the next I-frame. Supposedly saves on file size, bandwidth and resource the higher you have the setting but can cause problems if set too high.

I'm confused. Is the Hikvision firmware version 5.1.2 available? If so, where can I download it? What are the changes since v. 5.1.0?

Thanks.

Thanks for the link to the European site. It was confusing to me because I had checked the Hikvision USA ftp site and the newest version there is 5.1.0. Why is the newer version not available there? It's not still in beta is it?

Reading the release notes it is not clear that there are many changes since 5.1. Has anyone who has made the upgrade noticed any compelling reason to do the update? Any problems? It appears that the "media offline" problem has not been addressed? This is currently the only significant issue I have with version 5.1. I have to dedicate an entire Synology DS volume to the camera for the NAS storage management to work.

The two sites are often out of sync on when they add the latest version. Sometimes US is first, sometimes Europe. I'd guess they're run by different people with different priorities.

I haven't heard any compelling differences in 5.1.2 yet, though I'll be testing for the improved night image as soon as I have the time. The people who have upgraded haven't reported any obvious improvements.

I've detailed the procedure for patching Raptor 5.1 so that it keeps the NAS in a "Normal" state instead of an uninitialized state. Works with Raptor 5.1.0 build 131202 and 5.1.2 build 140116. Doesn't work with DM365 v5.1 cameras. After downloading, change the extension to "doc" instead of "zip", and open in Microsoft Word or similar.

Much thanks to Heuer and others for breaking the trail on this.

Thank you for the detailed instructions. I have followed them with some slight modification. The main problem is that after changing the hex string I could not convert the modified davinci file back to the "davinci.tar.gz" file in Windows 7 using 7-Zip in a single operation. I had to convert the file to "davinci.tar" and then convert that file to "davinci.tar.gz" in a second step. The thing that I worry about is that the newly created davinci.tar.gz is a slightly smaller file size (4,460,219 Bytes) than the original davinci.tar.gz (4,462,650 Bytes). This makes me worry that I did something wrong. So if I replace the original davinci.tar.gz with the new one I've created and something goes wrong can I easily revert back to the original? Or will I make my camera inoperable?

I would appreciate your insight and reassurance on this before I proceed.

John

The new 7-Zip files are indeed smaller, as shown below:

If something were to go wrong, you have two options. You can use the TFTP Utility to reload the firmware even if you can't get to the camera through the web interface, or if your camera has a reset button, that can usually bring it back to life. But there is always the possibility of "bricking" the camera, so there is some risk.

I am new to cameras and a novice at all things Linux. I'll invite other more knowledgeable people to elaborate on or correct my thoughts, above.

I came across a weird problem with 5.1 or 5.1.2 with the Mac. When using Webcomponents, you get at best 1 fps and very choppy video. This did not happen in V5.0. If you chose Quicktime, you do get smooth video and full frame rate when connected to your LAN, but remotely, you get no video, but works fine on Windows, so not a port forward issue.

Here's where it gets weird. When I called this into Hikvision, they have a demo camera with V5.1 firmware but V4.0 encoding (V5.0 comes with V4.0 encoding but V5.1 comes with V5.0 encoding) and it not only gives you fluid video on Safari with Webcomponents, but also lets you view remotely using Quicktime which is not available in firmware 5.0.

Have you had this problem? Any workarounds? Anyway to install V4 encoding on V5.1 firmware? Should we all just give up and get Windows 8, LOL.

You can do it in a single operation if you use the command line of 7-zip, but I had no problem with the Windows GUI, first to create the tarball and then to gzip and then stuffing the same exact file into different models of cameras.

On my Mac under 5.1 I get very poor video performance in Safari. As you state I get at best 1 fps under Webcomponents. I get no video if I chose Quicktime on my LAN. How did you configure your Mac to give you a video stream with QT? If I chose MJPEG on Safari I get decent video that is smooth but intermittent. In other words, I get 3 or 4 seconds of smooth video and then it stutters a few seconds and then resumes. I have my video configuration set to 30 fps and resolution to 1280x720P with variable bitrate set as the maximum 12288Kbps. Maybe I am overwhelming my bandwidth.

Under Windows 7 with Parallels I get the best video with Firefox set to Webcomponents. But this is nothing to write home about. It is still choppy with intermittent bursts of "smoothness".

Didn't do anything special to get QT to work on the mac. The other problem you have sound switch related. What switch are you using, how may cameras, how many pixels, and how is your PC attached (Wi-Fi, Ethernet to switch, to router).

Hello,

I have one DS-2CD2032-I camera V5.1.2 build 140116 Chinese patched firmware, Zyxel Keenetic Giga II router with connected USB Seagate UltraJet 1Tb storage NTFS formatted. Zyxel only support SMB/CIFS. I can connect to shared folders via explorer, FTP server and FTP uploads from camera by events work well.

I patched davinci by instructions above, but still can't get NAS functionality, after formatting I see error or uninitialized status. I have tried do format few times and only one time i sew normal status but after minute it gets uninitialized again. Now I try to disable FTP, erase all data from HDD (it takes a lot time cause now I connect to my camera via VPN tunnel and 3G Internet) and will try to setup and format HDD again.

Does anybody know any tips about what do I wrong or what I must to do to make NAS work with my complect of HW?

For some reason I am unable to reach http://itunedvr.ru .

My ISP (AT&T) is possibly blocking or having it's usual poor routing failure?

Using The Wayback Machine to archive & view I see attachments that I have no permission to view?
