VOICING HIS OPINION: Gary Barlow reveals why he will not join The Voice

The former X Factor judge has turned down several approaches by execs on the singing contest.

Instead, Gary is believed to be working on his own new format with the BBC to replace The Voice when it switches channels.

THE REST: Gary thinks he has already been on the best talent show

Take That star Gary said: “I feel like I have been on the best talent show, which was X Factor.

“I have been asked a few times about The Voice but I don’t think it is for me.”

The Voice moves to ITV in a new three-year deal after its five-year partnership with the BBC ends this series.

Although no one has yet to be signed up those linked to the show include Gary, his Take That bandmate Robbie Williams and previous coaches will.i.am and Rita Ora.

MOVING ON UP: The Voice will be on ITV next series

A source said: “Gary has a great relationship with ITV due to his time as an X Factor judge. It’s no secret he didn’t get on with Simon Cowell but he still has a great relationship with ITV. They love him.

“They know how popular he is and what a huge following he has and they are keen for him to join The Voice line-up.”

It isn’t the first time Gary has turned down a job on The Voice.

He also passed up on a coaching seat after quitting the X Factor in 2013.

Gary is currently making Take That’s eighth studio album.

He is also working on an idea for his own show which is likely to go as a direct head-to-head with The Voice when it moves.

Gary, 45, was keeping quite about his own talent show format.

TAKE THAT: Robbie Williams may take up the offer turned down by Gary

But he did open up about the new record out for Christmas.

He said: “I feel most comfortable writing for the band.

“We just get in the studio and see what happens. It’s interesting because already the album direction isn’t what we thought it would be.

“You let the music guide you really and of course you are in a different year, we feel differently and our lives are different and so your music is going to be different.

“I feel like Take That songs are my sound – those big pop choruses.”
