Kristen Stewart has ruled herself out of starring in The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo.

The Eclipse actress told MTV that her forthcoming roles in On The Road and Breaking Dawn will likely mean that she won't be in contention to star in David Fincher's adaptation of Stieg Larsson's Millennium Trilogy.

She said: "I think I'm going to be working. I'm booked for, like, the next six months, but it's an incredible project. I hope someone really cool does it, because I can't wait to see it. But I don't know if it's going to be me."

Stewart admitted that she has not held any meetings with director Fincher, adding: "I'm working, and he's really busy."

Asked if a delay for Dragon Tattoo could put her back in the running, she replied: "Who knows? Movies push all the time."

Carey Mulligan, Natalie Portman and Keira Knightley have also been linked to the role of bisexual hacker Lisbeth Salander, while Daniel Craig is reportedly in talks to star as journalist Mikael Blomkvist.

The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo has already been made into a Swedish-language thriller and two sequels, The Girl Who Played With Fire and The Girl Who Kicked The Hornets' Nest, are due for release.
