DIY Port Barton in Palawan

Port Barton is the perfect place if you wish to have a really laid back atmosphere and disconnect with the world. It is at the town of San Vicente which is north of Puerto Princesa but South of El Nido.

How to get to Port Barton

1. Book a flight heading to Puerto Princesa, Palawan

2A. From Puerto Princesa airport:
i.) ride a tricycle heading to Junction 1 for PHP8/head. Then ride a multicab going to San Jose/New Public Market terminal for PHP15/head.
ii.) Alternatively, you can hire a tricycle going to San Jose/New Public Market Terminal directly for PHP20/head.
iii.) Another option would be to ask the van driver to pick you up from the airport or from your hotel for an additional fee of PHP50/head.
3. Upon arriving at San Jose Terminal, head to the left side and look for the vans (Recaro or SBE) plying to Port Barton. Fare is PHP250.



Here are the schedules and contact numbers of Recaro and SBE if you wish to be picked up from your hotel.



4. Travel time is approximately 3 hours. The van has a stopover where you can have your breakfast.

2B. From El Nido v.v.:
Recaro shuttle also have daily trips from El Nido at 7AM. If you wish to head to El Nido after visiting Port Barton, you may ride their 8AM trip. Travel time is 3 hours. You may also hire a boat from/going to El Nido and travel time is 6 hours.

If you are a big group, you may opt to hire a van for your whole trip. It costs PHP5000 or depends on your haggling skills. Contact the aforementioned transport services for arrangements.

Tourism fee:

Upon arriving at Port Barton, the van parks at the Tourism Assistance Center where you will be asked to pay the tourism fee of:
a. PHP50/head for staying there for 1 to 10days
b. PHP100/head for 11 days to 6 months
c. PHP200/head for 6months to 1 year
After paying the tourism fee, you can walk towards your accommodation. No need to hire a tricycle because Port Barton is a really small town.

Where to stay

-located at Purok Mangingisda, it is a very cozy dorm-type accommodation with free wifi. You can stay here at a low price of PHP175/night per person.

-dorm type accommodation with great common place at its balcony with a nice view. They also offer food downstairs.

Tips:

1. Electricity in town is available only between 6PM-12MN
2. There are 3 waterfalls in the area and two can be accessed by trekking.
3. Buy goods before heading to Port Barton because most items there are more expensive.
4. There are no ATMs there so better bring enough money for your expenses.
5. During off-peak season, accommodations lower down their rates.

  3. This is one of the most informative page I read about Port Barton. When I google Port Barton, the search result would show me old blog posts (2011-2012). Glad to see a more recent post. Thank you for this information. BTW, do you have an idea about Long Beach? All along I thought Long Beach and Port Barton are the same >_< Do you know how to get to Long Beach from Port Barton?
