Quirky Jean Paul Gaultier brings out 1980s icons for Paris Fashion Week as Madonna and Michael Jackson lookalikes hit the catwalk

In his true quirky style, French fashion designer Jean Paul Gaultier recreated an 80s style show bringing back the world's latest and greatest icons to debut his spring/summer 13 collection in Paris this weekend.

Madonna, Michael Jackson, Grace Jones and Boy George lookalikes took to the catwalk in a stunning Paris Fashion Week finale.

Paying tribute to the popstars of the 1980s who have influenced fashion, Karlie Kloss stepped out dressed as Boy George followed by Jourdan Dunn as Sade and red leather jacket donning Michael Jackson alikes paraded the catwalk too.

A fake Grace Jones strutted down the catwalk in a tuxedo, reinvented in Gaultier's personal style, of course.

The music was fitting as stiletto-heeled dancers and models recreated a party with plenty of dancing on make-shift scaffolding as disco balls hung from the ceiling to add to the pop star theme.

The star of the show was a Madonna wannabee decked out in a sexy leather dominatrix cage-dress.

A red-head David Bowie alike burst onto the catwalk in a vibrant jumpsuit as models dressed in the brightest and loudest catsuits strutted behind.

The show closed in the most elegant fashion as models took to the catwalk in stunning leather reworked with jewels and applique.

All in all, Gaultier's show was fun and upbeat with his usual touch of elegance- the perfect end to a great week in Paris.

ELSEWHERE AT PARIS FASHION WEEK...

Vivienne Westwood's Gold Label show at the British Ambassador's Residence offered bustiers, basques, corsets and full skirts with her trademark huge platform heels. It was an ode to a debutante ball as dazzling jewels and huge hair made a mark. Ball gowns were bejeweled and jackets sharp-shouldered- a true eccentric show Westwood style.

Givenchy saw Riccardo Tisci produce a beautiful collection combining elegance with a tougher edge. Famous fans in the front row included Anna Dello Russo, Natalia Vodianova, Rachel Zoe, Kanye West as models donning baby blue, black and white took to the catwalk in short-sleeved jackets with no lack of ruffles and flounces.

Celine designer Phoebe Philo debuted an incredible collection. Although the colour palette was lacking, the blacks, whites and greys worked in the most perfect simplistic fashion. It was minimalism with a touch of femininity.
