World away from Pandora: Zoe Saldana swaps tropical climes of the mythical Avatar planet for chilly Aspen with fiancee

She's become best known for playing a character with a startling blue complexion - but Zoe Saldana was only a little bit chilly on a cold winter walk yesterday.

The 32-year-old star, who shot to fame as Neytiri, the Na'vi princess in James Cameron's ground-breaking Avatar, had layered up against sub-zero temperatures as she strolled in Aspen, one of America's favourite skii-ing resorts.

The New York-born beauty will be used to the weather however in the wilds of Colorado, having grown up with the harsh winters in Queens.

Zoe is on vacation in the mountain-ringed town - one of the most festive parts of the States this time of year - with her 36-year-old fiancee and boyfriend of 10 years, Keith Britton.

She announced in June this year she'd got engaged to her long term love, who as well as being an actor, is CEO of website My Fashion Database.

The pair currently have the chance to take time out for a Christmas break as she's just finished shooting Colombiana, in which she stars as a hard-hearted female assassin.

It hits the cinemas next summer.

Zoe is also preparing to make her return as Na'vi princess Neytiri, with Avatar sequels parts two and three currently being written.

Zoe is also making a return to sci-fi as Uhuru in a second prequel of Star Trek, following the success of the 2009 reboot.

For the time being however, Zoe is definitely keeping her feet on real - if icy - ground and keep her cheeks rosy rather than blue...
