Thats how you do it !

This is why we shouldn't have unlocks, so people will play the game just to have fun. Not grind to unlock stuff.

Maybe some people find grinding fun?

Whether I play against humans or bots, I still have fun.... some days I don't care about leveling up or unlocks and just play..... other times I'd like to get a specific weapon unlock or level up and thus I'll grind a bit.... but I still play the game the same way no matter what.

Either way, I still have fun with what I do, otherwise I wouldn't be playing.

Some people play TF2 for the actual game play, and then you have others who play TF2 for the hats and other unlocks.... who's more right and who's more wrong with how they play?

Neither.... we all bought our copies of the game to play them as we choose to play them, not how others would expect us to play them.

I don't tell others how they should play a game, so why should others feel justified in trashing or telling others how to play their games they paid for?

If someone is doing something I don't like on a server, or just don't bother playing the game properly, I either ignore them and continue playing, or I go to another server to play if it's that bad.

I personally couldn't care less if someone has no unlocks and no leveling up, or is a maxed out Hero with everything unlocked.... I'm still going to shove a bayonet into their eye with equal enthusiasm & both will drop to the ground just as fast.

Well, instead of having fun grinding to get that gun you want, you could be having fun just playing the game if the gun was unlocked by default. Btw I hate grinding, I've hung out with friends and we played CoD and all they wanted to do was grind to get unlocks and Xbox achievements...

But I think unlocks would be fine if they were cosmetic only and didn't affect gameplay. Since that gives certain players an artificial advantage. But people like you who enjoy unlocks and grinding can still do that in the current gamemodes, but I plan to play Classic mode. Unlock free :)

More interesting to me is the following:

It says 812 players are online. Counting the first 14 servers, it suggests that 615 people fill those servers. The one that you marked shows 53/54. Alone on this server are 52 bots that are counted into the 812 players online. So I am wondering, how many real players are actually included in the 812 players?
The 64 on 2.Fjg + maybe 100?

Bot farming is one issue, but the issue I am wondering more about is: where are the real players?

I think the number of players shown ingame count bots on the servers. The Steam statistics only count human players I think. According to steam there was a peak of 981 players ingame today, and there are currently 308 players ingame right now.

Agreed. People do what they want. You can't really criticize them for doing what they please with their time.

Well, instead of having fun grinding to get that gun you want, you could be having fun just playing the game if the gun was unlocked by default.

But then I lose out on one of the two things I find fun, thus a greater chance of getting bored sooner since I won't have anything new to try later down the road cuz they're already available.

Btw I hate grinding, I've hung out with friends and we played CoD and all they wanted to do was grind to get unlocks and Xbox achievements...

Don't get me wrong... I'm not a huge fan of grinding at all. It's one of the things that turned me off of BF2, which to this day I still only have less than 50% of the things you can unlock, simply because as I started to unlock this or that, everything seemed to triple and then quadruple in the amount of grinding I needed to do to get the next thing...... and BFBC2's progression system is just as much of a joke which promotes super-grinding and run&gunning.... as well as my most hated aspect of BF, base r@ping.

When Trip announced there was going to be a progression/unlock system in RO2, I was a little worried that it'd be like BFBC2's unlock system where you get horribly imbalanced unlocks like mag rounds, body armour, etc..... which takes forever to get to boot.

But the system in RO2 isn't that bad and I personally don't mind it, as I get things decently quick..... made commander hero decently fast and any weapons or unlocks you get in RO2 are of no serious advantage or disadvantage, as one good shot in the chest or head from any weapon drops you.... unlike BF where you have to unload a clip into your target before they drop, or they have mag rounds and body armour, take your shots, drop you in 1-2 shots and then hide in a corner somewhere to regenerate their health.

That kind of crap Pees me off.

But I think unlocks would be fine if they were cosmetic only and didn't affect gameplay. Since that gives certain players an artificial advantage. But people like you who enjoy unlocks and grinding can still do that in the current gamemodes, but I plan to play Classic mode. Unlock free :)

Oh fair enough, and I hope people enjoy the Classic mode.... I always figured for the people who didn't like leveling up and progressing to the point their fav weapon got an attachment that hindered their enjoyment (little scope on MKB) they could play the unranked servers..... but the Classic mode seems a better fit.

The only thing I'd really like to see changed on the current leveling up system is for everybody to be able to choose the add-ons to their weapons, rather than have them stuck on with no option to take them off.

I couldn't care less for a bayonet attachment animation.... but if one could just select if they wanted a bolt rifle with or without a bayonet before spawning, etc.... that'd solve a lot of people's issues with that aspect of the progression system.

But then..... who would want to pick an MG34 with a small drum mag, when they can pick a saddle drum or belt? Why would anybody pick a PPSH with a stick mag, rather than the Drum mag??

For a challenge I suppose (a challenge I'd probably choose from time to time as well)

Agreed. People do what they want. You can't really criticize them for doing what they please with their time.

Indeed..... at least they're playing the game..... for those complaining about the lack of available players in RO2, I'd think you'd take what you can get.

considering he locked his server with a password and you can't join him, i don't count him as an "available player".
i find it so sad that he won't even let anyone else join in the farming. he wants them all to himself!
