The resort was beautiful and clean. All of the staff were friendly and accommodating. The a la carte restaurants were much better, but everyone in our family ended up sick. We didn't drink the water and we were very careful. My husband, daughter and I were sick almost the entire week. We had trouble eating and drinking anything because our stomachs felt so bad. It's a shame because we have been on many all inclusive vacations and have never had a problem. To have an all-inclusive vacation and not be able to eat or drink is such a disappointment. Many other people staying there were having the same issues. My family and I are very disappointed at this vacation, was by far not we expected of this 5 hotel. Staff at hotel, mostly rude to us and never supplied the correct amount of towels and wash cloths for the 14 days we were there. They kept assigning a room with only a king bed. It took hotel staff three tries to find a suitable room. They seemed confused and unorganized in their hotel operations. The whole complex is older and tired looking. Property structures and pool areas are moldy and lacks proper maintenance. Hotel management is not paying attention to details which makes any resort more impressive. Resort did not disclose properly on their website that the alcohol and related ingredientsvare of low grade quality. Don't expect any out of the ordinary service from their bartenders. Beach front is nice and clean and a joy to visit. Food is lack luster at best. Don't expect any "wow" factor from flavorful and unique food. I got the touch of food poisoning from eating theur salad ingredients. I caution anyone that eats uncooked food as their safe food practices is unknown. If I were to rate the overall quality of this hotel and corporation that runs it, I would give it 2.5-3 stars out of 5 stars. Facility is large with readily available carts. Hotel, transportation and air port experience are much improved. The few negatives are: Theme restaurants are not very good; buffet is much better. Towel service at the Royal was poor; they wanted you to be at distribution point between 8-9 AM; we had to wake up early or re-use yesterday's towel. Room was not in an occupancy state; but was quickly fixed. So you see; very small nits for an overall exceptional time. Oh, some other Americans had trouble because they wanted American whiskey / bourbon. Wake up; you are in the RUM country; do as the locals and you will be happy.
