Funimation Adds 2011 Fullmetal Alchemist Film, Is this a Zombie? (Updated)

posted on by Christopher Macdonald

FUNimation Entertainment has confirmed with ANN that it announced its acquisition of the upcoming Fullmetal Alchemist movie, Fullmetal Alchemist: The Sacred Star of Milos (Fullmetal Alchemist: Milos no Sei-Naru Hoshi) and Is This a Zombie? (Kore wa Zombie Desu ka?) television series at its Anime Central panel on Saturday.

Fullmetal Alchemist: Star of Milos is set to open in Japan on July 2. Kazuya Murata (Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion assistant director) is directing off a script by Yūichi Shimpo (Whiteout). Kenichi Konishi (Tokyo Godfathers) is adapting the character designs from Hiromu Arakawa's original manga at the studio Bones (Eureka Seven). The movie is a stand-alone story and is not part of the original or "Brotherhood" storylines.

The official website movie began streaming the third set of trailers (in 90-second and 30-second versions) on Friday. Unlike the previous teaser trailers, this set contains the first full trailer. The website also posted the third new piece of key visual art.

Is This a Zombie? premiered on Japanese TV in January and was simulcast on Crunchyroll. The series adapts Shinichi Kimura's light novel series of the same name, which was illustrated by Kobuichi and Muririn. The story follows a normal high school boy named Ayumu Aikawa as he is killed and resurrected as a zombie by a necromancer named Eucliwood ("Eu"). Ayumu then accidentally deprives the magical girl Haruna of her powers, so she demands that Ayumu take her place in fighting her enemy Megalo.
