PS2 and Xbox map for PC

Hey guys,

here's the PS2 III map working in the PC version, have fun:

I converted the III Xbox map now

For the Xbox map you need to use the xbox world pipeline in skygfx.

For III you also have to increase the Streaming Info size to 6524 and TxdStore size to 1024.

Amazing work, aap! Together with SkyGFX, we finally have a true PS2 experience for us PC gamers. This is what I always wanted.

What is different from the PC map, except some Portland props missing on PS2 version?

Some textures are different (not many) and they are in higher resolution on PC

I did this mainly to remove the annoying cardboard boxes in that alley. Just a thing that I wanted done.

Only map related bug PC has is the gas station stuff. Otherwise it's mostly same map with more props as mentioned.

It's just easier to convert everything (actually you don't even need any conversion, you can just take the files as they are) than to find the differences.

ps2 map layout + xbox models and textures (at least the ones with higher polys/resolution)

 

actually I never took a closer look at III map, there are many objects like lampposts floating in the air? SA has a hundred of these things.

Nice work! :D Are you going to convert the PS2 cars as well? A lot of PC cars have missing textures.

I was going to say the same thing. And nope, it's the Sentinel, Mafia Sentinel is correct.

I've been working on the Xbox map and it's basically working. I reversed the pixel shader and implemented it in the world pipeline. Only some objects look wrong. They're too dark which seems to be a problem with the vertex colors. It's really strange and I hope I can find the cause of it soon.

Well okay, if everything else is the same, i can simply use aap's RW file converter to get them on PC :D

Forgot to mention you need to add the line

CDIMAGE MODELS\XBOX_MAP.IMG

to the gta3.dat in the README. Fixed that now.

I have problem. Game crashes when trying new game. Loading game is fine. Don't you know what can cause that?

Hm, I think Ash had the same problem. I'm using the freeroam scm, there it worked.

gta3.dat? Not default.dat? It still crashes for me right when the game loads up fully and the bar disappears.

I don't think it really matters where you put the line. Does it always crash or just when you start a new game? In any case, give me the address where it crashed (1.0 exe please).

But as said game crashes when trying new game. And also seems like game freezes when trying mission
