    Hagara 10HC lightning chaining problem

We started our progress on Hagara 10HC today and after a few hours we've completely solved the frost phase so it becomes very easy, and we don't have troubles with Shattered Ice either. What we have extremely big problem with is the lightning phase.

We have our ranged and healers in the middle while tank + melee runs one direction and 2 melee runs the other direction. We don't have any problem linking the lightning to the first 2 pillars, but often when we're on our way to the third we lose it. Sometimes we can't even get it back when standing close to the pillar trying to get it to jump over to the players. This is very annoying since most of our wipes comes from the damage being unhealable due to too slow or no chaining at all on the last 2 pillars.

Is there any specific way to make sure the lightning stays while you run between the pillars without having to stop like 5 seconds at each pillar to be sure it's on the players?

We do a kind of leapfrog strategy. I do it on one side with our spriest, and we start by getting to 1/3 and 2/3 (1/3 and 2/3 being distance between 2 pillars) positions before the add dies. Rogue is next to conductor and chains it to us, first pillar is lit. I am at the 2/3 position. I then run through the pillar to the 1/3 position while the spriest runs to the 2/3 position. Once it's lit the spriest runs to 1/3 and I go to 2/3. Repeat like that. Slightly slower than moving with the same distance between us the whole time but it's extremely low risk.

Try picking people with good CD's to run out, we chose the spriest because he can just disperse when the ground based AoE decides to fuck with him and I can AMS.

Sounds interesting. How many stacks of Lightning Storm do you usually get to?

    1. Select your Hagara report (or multiple reports).
    2. Go to "Dashboard" -> "Expression Editor"
    3. Type this:

spell = "Lightning Storm" and fullType = SPELL_AURA_APPLIED_DOSE and amount >= 10 and targetName = "Newti"

Change Newti to the name of a person in your Raid that can not reset stacks or prevent stacks from being applied.
This query will show you any stacks you got above 10. To Change that number, edit the value amount.
Also a video would be awesome! =)

    Probably something similar to this.

Although, more than 2 people per side are participating here.

18/19 respectively (2nd one was a bit fucked up because I had no AMS and the ground AoE decided to have a little fun with me)

Thanks a lot for the video! I'm just looking for a safe way to deal with that phase, and something like this looks to be pretty safe.

I think the problem with lightning chain breaking when doing the tactic where only two people chain one whole side comes from when the person who first reaches one crystal and starts running towards next, the pillar is supposed to "target" the second person instead of the one running away, but it sometimes lag so it won't happend. Something like that.

Thanks Frozendekay and detached, going to experiment with having the last person in one chain being the first person in next chain so the pillar don't have to "target swap" today!

We tried doing it involving more people to try to gain speed, but finally settled to do it with 2 people per side, doing the whole thing. The other people just wait in the middle. We still do it really fast, and the organization problems get very much reduced. It basically boils down to the pair running without stop maintaining their distance. It ends up being very smooth. Me as warrior do one of the sides with a DK, and my shield wall covers the entire process. For my experience, the better way to do it is starting at the correct distance and to never stop running, even if it seems you are going to lose it, never stop. When you start stopping waiting for your companion, is when the lightining seems to get lost.

PD: Drums of speed are really helpful in this combat, both for this phase and the ice one, but make sure that both people in each side go at the same speed.

We kinda do a combination strategy. Myself (paladin tank) and SP take one side together, as we both have sufficient cooldowns to survive. Two teams of 2 take the other side. We are three healing, so on the occasion where the blatant bugs manifest we almost never lose people, though it gets fun of course.

One thing the SP and I noticed was that at the half way point if we switched order (i.e. at first I was closer to the one we were chaining from, him to the one we were chaing to, swap this to link 2-3, 3-4), that it would bug out more. Thus we kept the order the same, a bit slower, but more consistent so it was worth it.

We did the leapfrog tactic tonight (http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature...dAuO0TGk#t=60s) and managed to kill the boss in under two hours. Thanks a lot for everyone's help and I really recommend doing the leapfrog tactic (we did it with 8 people). <3
