Karun Chandhok will be able to race at his Indian home grand prix in 2011

The Formula 1 calendar will be extended to a record 20 races in 2011 with the addition of the Indian Grand Prix. Commercial boss Bernie Ecclestone revealed that no races would be dropped to make way and went on to suggest the sport could expand even further. "We are not dropping anything. [It's] 20 races - getting ready for 25," insisted Ecclestone. Despite poor attendances at the Chinese Grand Prix, Ecclestone also said that race would continue next year. An initial seven-year deal was scheduled to end after Sunday's Grand Prix in Shanghai and the event has struggled to attract paying spectators.

But Ecclestone said: "We're happy with everything. No dramas... the contract is ongoing here and it will go on. It is a rolling contract. "They are not promoting it properly; it is as simple as that. "The people that run the place ought to do a bit more. If you were in Shanghai you wouldn't even know there is a race here. "It is a shame because the whole venue is super, everything is good." Having recently visited the new South Korean track, Ecclestone also said he had no doubts that race would go ahead on 24 October, despite recent reports that building is behind schedule. "We will definitely be there," he said. "We will be there."
