Grandma Fancy likes it spicy! Daring advertising campaign sells molasses with a 'whiff of grandma's muffin'

No, these are not sex adverts promoting the services of the more mature woman.

Surprisingly they are part of a new advertising campaign for Crosby's molasses which is steeped in sexual innuendos about 'the whiff of grandma's muffin' and men trying to get into 'Grandma's pantry'.

The 'Bake it Like Grandma' adverts feature images of our traditional rosy-cheeked, bespectacled grannies alongside, not so traditional phrases, such as 'Just one little taste of grandma's pie would drive men crazy'

Crosby's, based in News Brunswick, Canada, has launched the 'Grandma Fancy' campaign, which is a play on the company's brand Crosby's Fancy Molasses, in a bid to give a new face to the 125-year-old product.

Chief executive officer for Crosby's, Lorne Goodman told CBC News that market research showed the majority of molasses consumers are seniors.

He said Crosby's is hoping that the Grandma Fancy campaign will attract younger customers.

'We realized that, gosh, there's a huge opportunity for us if we can somehow catch the attention of the younger generation,' Goodman said in the interview with CBC News.

The company has also produced a number of recipe videos for the campaign which show the character 'Grandma Fancy'  winking and suggestively demonstrating the recipes.

In one video 'Grandma Fancy pulls the pork' the grandmother delivers such lines as 'I was just checking out my rack' and 'Grandma likes it spicy' while winking at the camera.

She also encourages the viewer to 'rub the meat real good' and says 'nobody likes limp meat.'

Another clip, shows her cooking sticky buns or 'man-catchers' as she likes to call them.

'Pop likes a little extra sugar on the weekend' she explains.

'Back in the day men would drive from two towns over just to get a taste of my sticky buns, they were so moist and still are', the innocent looking granny smiles at the camera.

She tells the viewer to roll the jelly-roll into a 'nice, thick package', before cutting it in to pieces and placing them in the tray.

'Face down gets them good and sticky' she says.

The third video shows her making cookies.

'Oh, pardon me and my sweet tooth! Pop says I'm insatiable,' exclaims the character Grandma Fancy when she appears to get caught eating the cookies.

'Pop used to bring home all the fellas from work, just to give them a taste of my goodies' she says winking at the camera.

The three videos have been posted on Crosby's website

'I guess I saw the first ad and looked at it and said, 'Oh wow!' By the time the fifth ad came, I said something significant, like, 'Holy moly!''  Goodman told CBC News.

In the first week alone of the campaign, Goodman said, Crosby's website attracted an unprecented tens of thousands of hits.
