MoP first week of raiding results

Results of scanning raiding guilds so far:

Total amount of level 90 characters: 900,000 (835,000 unique players)

Amount of characters that killed the first boss in MV: 136,000

Amount of characters that killed the final boss in MV: 14,000

Let's take a look at breakdown by classes.

Class popularity

Percentage of characters that managed to kill the first boss by class (normal mode)

Percentage of characters that managed to kill the final boss by class (normal mode)

- it seems that there are too many warriors and hunters (they had lesser chances to get in raid)

- warlocks are doing good in raids

- obviously monk value is the special case, many of them probably were leveled for raiding

Update:

This article does NOT count how many characters of each class killed bosses. It does NOT compare amount of paladins, druids, etc.

It compares class success ratio in getting to raids.
Example:
There are 108,000 level 90 Druids and 61,000 level 90 Warlocks.
Amount of Druids killed the final boss: 1900.
Amount of Warlocks killed the final boss: 1200.

Of course, there are more Druids than Warlocks because Druid is a hybrid class.

But what is relevant is success ratio, what percentage of those 108,000 druids managed to kill the final boss?
Druids: 1.76% killed Will of the Emperor
Warlocks: 1.94% killed Will of the Emperor

So you see there were less warlocks, but warlocks had more success killing the boss - that was the subject of this post.

Keep in mind that Paladin and Druid numbers are higher than average because Paladins fill 3 roles and druids 4. So while it's true that there are "more" of each spec it evens out to others (or is even less) when you consider tank, dps, ranged dps and heal.

This is true only for the first picture.
The second and the third though showing percentage which means there are no difference how many roles each class has.

To explain better, it takes 100 level 90 characters of each class and calculates how many of them killed bosses.

This kind of feedback is really much apreciated kernel.
If you guys can manage to bring up regular updates on those numbers it would be amazing!
Great job! Ty for the valuable data! (My god you re able to distinguish individuals now and not only in game characters? WoW!!!)

Completely agree with you on this one Huntingbear, because Paladins and Druids can fill more roles then a Rogue for example the chance's are that you will have more Druid's then Rogue's in a raid group. If you look at a 10 man raid group you can have 4 Druid's in the group each filling a different role without effecting it's viability, if you try taking 4 rogue's on the other hand it is a completely different story. So yes Druid and Pally percentage's will inevitably be higher due to this fact.

Maybe I'm just not that familiar with the wowprogress.com website but; is there a way to show how many total guilds are reporting their kills on the different tiers you already have in place (example: guild is rank # 3 out of 1,100).
    OR
Could it be possible to add an option to allow us to export the data you collect on the website so we can do our own charts?

Just thoughts/suggestions :) Great work, love the website!

Any chance you could tell us how many unique players are registered with the site?

That plus the stats provided here would give a good indication of how many players raid.
