Asynchronous I2S FIFO project, an ultimate weapon to fight the jitter

Roon…. I was a late adopter, but now would never want to get back…. I bought a lifetime license. Ropieee on a RPI is a great endpoint for Roon and the start for adding all your Ian Canada stuff….

Also the multi room is nice. One NUC “server” with Roon running 24/7 and a 16 TB NAS box with all my music and I play my music in 6 different locations and control anywhere in pc notebook iPad or iPhone….

No shares in Roon by the way, I am just “sold” :D

Isn't Roon Rock free with limited features VS full roon products ?

What happen if you install the free Roon Rock as an main OS on a NUC without monthly/yearly/endly of life the on line Roon issues service ? You will not have the meta data reading about the life of the trumpetist if you are listening Kind of Blue for example ?

Not so clear at reading Roon FAQs.

Hello everyone!
I have been reading the forum for a long time, but this is my first post)
First of all, thanks to the community for a lot of useful information and thanks to Jan for his products!

I have a very simple PSU for RPi, fifopi and RECLOCKPI, consisting of 2 lines (5v and 3.3v) on lt1083.

I have 2 questions for the community about PSU upgrade.

1.)I thought about building 2 additional lines with UCPURE.
5v - for RPi (for now I will use LT1083)
5v - UCPURE for FIFO
3.3v - UCPURE for FIFO + RECLOCKPI

Is this a good idea or I'd better use LIFEPO4 MINI + supercapacitors.
But then I lose pure 5v for FIFO? Any recommendations?

2)In Russia, I found a local manufacturer/suppliers of 3000F (I don't think they produce them on their own. Maybe they just place orders for large quantities, for example, in China.) capacitors with the following parameters. Will they fit for UCPURE?
Maximum voltage 3.0 V
Peak voltage 3.2 V
ESR <0,22 mΩ
Maximum peak current 2600 А
Maximum stored energy 3,75 Wh
Capacity deviation 0% / 20%
Deviation of ESR -5%
manufacturer site - Supercapacitor SKF-3000-3V0 ? ultracapacitor.ru
Retailers have an average price of about $ 70 per unit.

@bobafet

For FifoPi clean side and the ReClockPi, no doubt UcPure would be the best power supply option.

However for the 5V RPi power supply, because it is before the isolator and also takes pretty high continuous current, I think a linear power supply (such as a LinearPi) with a UcConditioner 5V would be enough.

But if you want, you can try UcPure 5V for the RPi, I'm interested in what you will get.

Ian

Ian, thanks for your reply.
My apologies for misspelling your name.

I re-read the instructions for FIFO Q3 and realized that I almost made a mistake planning to use 5v LT1083 for RPi and additional 5v UCPURE for FIFO.

Now everything is much easier and I need only one UCPURE psu for 3.3v.

Ian, thanks again!

I haven't confirmed they are still in business since their website is not updated @ 2015. But I have seen their products on Amazon third-party and eBay.

SUPER CAP STRAPS

I'm pretty sure this is their eBay account:

Low-Z Copper Strap,12 pack,Maxwell Ultra Capacitor Farad BCAP P270 K04,< 20uOhm 680474114412 | eBay

I get free shipping domestically if I order direct, so may pursue that route.

I'm also considering ordering the SMA connector finger thumb wrench for the SMA cabling.

Note: I haven't gone through the Eaton / Tecate spec dimensions yet to compare size with Maxwells. I wouldn't mind the Aluminum (Repeating in both US and UK pronunciation) either. It doesn't have to be Cooper.

Be careful too if you order on eBay to order the M12 not the M8. It can easily be overlooked since the packaging is exactly the same.

Anyone found anything like these ^^^ in the UK yet?

@bobafet

That's no problem. You are welcome.

The next I'll build my DDDAC project

Seems I could have some free time recently. I'm gonna build my DDDAC DAC.

The configuration could be:
1. StationPi Pro
2. ReceiverPi Pro
3. FifoPi Q3
4. ReclockPi
5. SinePi
6. DRIXO OCXO
7. DDDAC

Amanero USB streamer can also be included as the USB source. It can be installed directly on to the StationPi Pro.

Different from StationPi, StationPi Pro will be in fully finished this time.

Power supply to be decided, could be
UcPure, two of LifePO4 Mini and LinearPi with UcConditioner

I'm also interested in trying the new Raspberry Pi Zero2. For a processer board, less power consumption means less EMI noise.

Very good. Am keen for it.

On another question, is McFifo (+ XO) the thing I need if I wish to split multichannel audio into separate channels each for processing by different dacs? I have a 5.1 source coming in via I2s and would like fronts + rears output to separate dacs.

Hi guys,

I wanted to compare my current rpi 4 against the pi Zero 2 but i want to use wired ethernet connection. Is it good practice (for sound quality) to use a usb to ethernet adapter for the pi zero? or what is a better option to use for the pi zero if i want to use wired ethernet?

Thanks for the input
