Cam Gigandet, Nick Thune lead ‘Johnson’

'Virginity Hit' director helming indie comedy

“Twilight” thesp Cam Gigandet and comedian Nick Thune are set to star in the raunchy indie comedy “Johnson,” which is a co-production between 2DS Prods. and Roman’s Empire.

Huck Botko (“The Virginity Hit“) is directing from a script by Jeff Tetreault.

Gigandet will play Rich Johnson, a charismatic womanizer who receives his comeuppance after his penis mysteriously leaves his body and takes human form (Thune). Stripped of his manhood and pitted against his alter ego, protag must find a way to get his johnson back while learning how to be a better man in the process.

Reid Brody and Bill Ryan will produce for 2DS Prods., while Danny Roman will produce for Roman’s Empire. The Salt Company is handling international sales for the pic, which is skedded to start production Oct. 10 in Chicago.

2DS Prods. (“Nothing Like the Holidays”) is a production and financing company run by Ryan and Brody, who also runs the post-production outfit Filmworkers Club. Prior to joining 2DS, Ryan worked with writer-producer John Hughes.

Before forming Roman’s Empire, Roman worked at Scott Rudin Prods., Mace Neufeld Prods. and Industry Entertainment.

Gigandet recently wrapped Catherine Hardwicke’s thriller “Plush” and will soon be seen in John Stockwell’s “Seal Team Six,” which will premiere Nov. 4 on the National Geographic Channel after being acquired by The Weinstein Company.

Thune, who has appeared numerous times on “The Tonight Show with Jay Leno,” has had minor roles in Judd Apatow’s “Knocked Up,” Mike Judge’s “Extract” and Paul Feig’s “Unaccompanied Minors.” Thesp is set to co-write and co-exec produce an untitled multi-camera project about hipsters for NBC and Jimmy Fallon’s Holiday Road banner.

WME reps Botko, Tetreault, Gigandet and Thune, with the thesps respectively managed by Luber Roklin Entertainment and 3 Arts Entertainment.
