I was a little confused in the beginning of the storyline, then suddenly she was already in love with him, then he loved her, then things happened that didn't have any emotions or feelings put into the characters at all, even the drawing looked expressionless. Especially the main girl.

It was a good story, with a decent plot and nice art but it didn't stir my feelings up. After reading quite a number of great manga my expectations are rather high so I wasn't that impressed by it. But it was a nice and good past time. Perhaps I just couldn't understand deeply so it felt shallow, but at the time it seemed like it had some depth. Especially since it wasnt like someone else mentioned just your typical happy manga. I liked that part of it and how it talked about things that you normally wouldn't consider. It probably has a lot of meaning and depth behind it, yet however deep some meaning is, if you don't understand it at all, you can't really feel for it. Thats my opinion anyway. In some way it was more realistic, in other ways it wasn't as I couldn't really connect with the characters and the plot. It's okay I suppose, I mean I can't even draw/write anything near that level so who am I to complain.

A great manga for mediating

This is one of the best shoujo manga I have ever laid eyes on. However, I can say that it is not really something you should read to lift your mood up. It is rather a manga for those who have a need for mediating and want to think.

It is not depressing, but it will twist your mind a bit and make you feel uncomfortable at some point. Because it keeps having alternative solutions that you might think that "OK, that's good too, let's end here!" (even though it is not satisfying), and then another one comes up right after, which is better. I think that is the way the author wants to show that her characters are developing. They keep finding the answers to their problems, but then they keep finding another better answers.

I also like this kind of story telling, it is a silent manga, not much actions, not much words, but plenty enough to sink into readers' mind. The problem was treated well. Each character has his/her way to pout, to send out signal that: "Hey, I am lonely, look at me!". But they thought that they are trying to stand alone, proudly, to not expect helps and cares from others.

It really makes me think about a saying: "People only accept the love that they think they deserve". That is why lonely people like these characters, at one hand, desire love so much, but on the other hand, reject the love that is in front of them, they are just weak and lack of self-confident.

Overall, this is a good manga, not cute, but really good. I also like the artwork, it is simple, but pretty firm, and it really helps showing clearly the characters' emotions, and makes it touch your heart.

At first I found myself think that this manga is so depressing!.. But then towards the end it kinda dragged me in and turned it all around. Quite life like scenarios too. Though the art wasn't fantastic, it was still ok. overall I give it a 7.5.

Great stuff right here!!!

It's been a while since I read something I liked as strong as this. To be honest, I didn't have much expectations from the reviews here but jokes on me, I guess.

First off to give a summary. Art, characters and plot: 10.

The art itself isn't the usual typical beautiful shoujo which is great. It gives off a more serious feeling that fits with the mood. The panels were set out right to give the reader the right feelings about the situation. It was overall great. The only complain I could say was the female hand, t was rather large but outside from that, everything else was good propotionally.

I loved every character. Each of them played their part perfectly. Everyone had a flaw and you could feel everyone's feelings. Especially the heroine. I cried at parts. Some may say this is overdramatic, but in their world and in ours, problems like this hurts. I think the mangaka did exceptionally with conveying their inner thoughts and minds. I related a lot with myself and my thoughts had times when they were going wild. It was cleverly shown through how she layed everything out on each page. And everyone developed well.

The plot was great. Teacher-student relationship isn't anything new but with the characters around and their personalities, it made it into a very good story. Everything was set out from the start. The twists came one after another and kept me reading page after page. And te best thing was that it came natural and had a nice pace. Not like in some mangas were there's suddenly some new character popping in that didn't have a role from he start and the mangaka reaised the story couldn't go anywhere if she didn't do that.

The ending was good. I felt a feeling of closure and it ended smothly. It's hard to describe the feeling because if I did, I would be taken in a wrong way probably. ^^

too much feelings talk

meh, don't really know what to think of this manga; it might be interesting to read if you are a teenager, because the issues the characters deal with aren't really "issues" for an adult. The typical problems are my parents are at work i am so alone, no one needs me etc. All this feelings talk can be rather overwhelming and irritating. The characters feel too much, indulge in self-pity, philosophise about life but don't actually do much; I couldn't really understand why they are attracted to each other either, so the ending was a bit anticlimatic.
I guess it is readable in small portions

It's probably the best of Sakurai Michiko. It deals with themes that are very close to the heart, and in a way that is almost heartbreakingly realistic.

The main character is just... wonderfully deep. I love her flawed character, and the fact that she knows entirely that she's messed up, and why she's messed up. I love how when given the option, she tries to repair her circumstances, even though she just ends up getting hit in the face again with disappointment. And so, I completely understand when she attaches herself to someone that shows her affection, even if it's his job. Even if, when she learns a little bit about who HE really is, he jokes that he can fill the hole in her heart.

It's unbelievably sad because she isn't really all that innocent despite some of her reactions, and the teacher isn't either. It's sad because they're both caught up in their circumstances and mentality, and though all the characters keep on calling the MC a "kid," she's as adult as any of them (or at least grows to be), and that's precisely why she psychologically unstable - her loneliness basically sped up the growing up process.

And it is pure genius the way that Sakurai, the mangaka, makes an effort to say that people's problems shouldn't be a point of comparison - comparing the MC's issues, which are constantly referred to as trivial by adults, though they are devastatingly real and Taichi's supposedly "adult" issues is not the important part, nor should it be done. She basically says that it's the fact that those problems are THERE is the issue. That they are all messed up people in one way or another, and the depth of the problem does not measure the quickness or easiness of the solution. And that, if one DOES try to trivialize the problem, it can get (and oh yes it does in this manga) worse.

She's woven a story of people that need things they don't know they even need, want things they don't need, and lust after things they're not sure are even there. I loved her use of Takahashi as a foil character as well.

But this was hands down, one of the deepest heroines I've encountered. Taichi was a good character. I can't say I loved him, but he did his job, and his issues were interesting, to say the least. He was, after all, responsible for further tipping our heroine off into psychological instability, even if because of teasing/a joke, and he does bear the burden of his actions (or mistakes, depending on how you look at them).

That said, the way the mangaka tackles the characters' issues is the high point to this manga. The art style is not very typical, and frankly, lacks some finesse, but I grew to like it simply because it emphasized the raw nature to the entire thing. This is not coated in sugary shoujo melodrama--- it's a little more adult than that.

This manga is also probably one of the best host stories I've read, next to the Deep Love series (there's like 4 or 5 connected stories, each about 2 volumes each) written by Yoshi (or Yoshi Yuu).

I think the best word to describe this manga would be raw. The manga shows you what's happening and everything, but not the characters' thoughts. She just lets their life roll on, which is somewhat nice, but at the same time you get a feeling of detachment.
She also deals with issues that most "normal" people face that aren't really considered huge problems, but they are to the person like loneliness and purpose in life.
There's also lots of sexual tension between the main couple, but at the same time remains very innocent, which is another plus since there's too many smut these days that focus too much on sex.

I'm only about six chapters in, and I'm definitely getting the sense that there's a lot of this story that's going unsaid. I like that in a manga, that it holds its trump card till later on. The vague line between the characters' relationships seems very life-like. Again, I'm not that far it, but don't write this one off! smile

Meh. It's pretty good. So far I've only read 3 volumes and the story is progressing pretty well. It's not WOW or anything. It's a basic plot with a dialogue thrown in with excessive emotion and angst. The art's pretty average.

I'd reccomend this is you're bored.
