SRK promises Poila Boishakh visit,with a new look

Khan,who had a meeting with Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee at Writers’ Buildings yesterday,is said to have promised her to visit the state on Poila Boisakh wearing dhoti and panjabi —the traditional outfit of Bengal men.

On Poila Boisakh,Kolkata Knight Riders will also play an IPL match at Eden Gardens.

Sources close to Mamata said Khan was keen to promote Bengal in the country and abroad in a big way. The actor,along with his team,will not only make advertisements highlighting the state’s potential in the tourism sector,he will also explore possibilities in other sectors.

“He will extend support to make West Bengal a major destination for industrialists. The state industry department has held a mega event called Bengal Leads at Milan Mela to attract investment. Khan will make a documentary on the prospects of industry in the state. Through the documentary,the Bengal government’s initiatives to offer an environment conducive to investment will be highlighted,” Firhad Hakim,state urban development minister,told The Indian Express. Hakim was present at the meeting between Khan and Mamata.

SRK will start his industry campaign soon,after which he will highlight major initiatives of all the state departments.

“Those who accompanied Khan yesterday will visit major tourist and industrial destinations in the state. Based on the visit,a documentary will be prepared. Khan is very impressed with the state’s efforts to beautify the riverside,” a source in the government said.

“An expert from Australia will,along with Khan’s associates,take a journey by boat from Belur Math to Kidderpore. They will put forward their reports highlighting steps to beautify the riverside. Also they will come up with ideas to help the state build riverside tourism infrastructure.”

Experts will also examine the possibility of introducing water sports in the Hooghly. “Didi has requested Khan to promote Bengal outside the country and in other states in a big way. He is very keen to do a lot for Bengal,” the source said.
