THE CROUCHING TIGER AND HIDDEN DRAGON-AOR2 VS WOODLAND

People might get confused between MARPAT and the AOR2, so before we start this I will attach the photo of 2 fabric comparison, hope this well help.

In the camouflage pattern, US woodland was one of the most efficient in almost all the Jungle area or woodland forest just like the crouching tiger and as of the digital camo became more and more popular among the military in the world, the US has develop a new camo pattern called AOR1 and AOR2, 1 is for the desert base area, 2 is for jungle or woodland area. But is is really hard to acquire  these 2 pattern’s of camouflage so I will call it the Hidden Dragon.

Now Lets take a look how these 2 camo pattern conceal itself in the jungle area. The Real jungle in the south east asia is has more light green color compare to the US or Europe woodland forests, I will be using bonnie hats on both woodland camo and the AOR2 in the jungle for further camo testing.

“Try Finding both CAMO in the pic”

HINT: “CENTER”

“ZOOM IN ON THE SAME PHOTO”

In the shadow Wooland did a good job but we can still tell from the dark brown color, the AOR2 breaks the hat pattern to pieces and hardly visible.

“WITH THE SAME POSITION OF THE HATS, I DECIDE TO WALK NEAR FOR ANOTHER SHOOT”

From the mid distance we can see the bigger difference between the 2 camo patterns, woodland became more visible but aor2 still stays the same concealment effect.

“LOOKING FROM CLOSE UP DISTANCE”

With the close up distance we still cant really see the pattern of the AOR2 compare to woodland camo

“I TOOK ANOTHER SHOOT FROM THE ANGLE IN THE SHADED AREA”

“TRY TO FIND BOTH CAMO”

“IN THE SHADED AREA WITH THE LEAVES COVER”

“IN THE OPEN AREA UNDER THE SUN LIGHT”

“CLOSE UP UNDER THE SUN LIGHT”

The brown and black color of the woodland camo contrast color became higher but the AOR2 changes to Green and yellowish color

” ON THE SOILD”

Finally I put it on the ground and see the both color will  turn out, even on the ground the AOR2 still has the upper hand of concealment.

CONCLUSION

AOR2 has more effective camouflage concealment in the shadow, under the sun and also on the ground aread compare to woodland camo in the jungle of Asia,

but still need to test it during night time and under raining weather.

Looking forward to bring more report on the AOR2 stuff fellas

Thank you for a thorough and good in-depth illustrations…
I´m located in Norway, and I have takenan interest in the AOR2, and have now tried to spend time to study AOR2 suitability in our natural topography and light. We move around in areaes of rustic mountainareas with stone in a wide colorspectres. We allso have leaves forests and pineforests and dark, dark forests, and micttures of them… The camo AOR2 will for certain work out as the AOR2 is a vertical digitalized pattern. Many of the other digital patterns has a HORIZONTAL patternbase…
And here is another good argument FOR the AOR2 pattern: Most things in nature, everythings grows mostly upwards, and also urban areas are anatomically built to stretch UPWARDS, seekng nutrient light( same thing goes everywhwere on our planet, exeptions are certain types of a minority of plants/growth particularily in jungle areas). This is common knovledge… Another thing that you illustrate very well in your pics, is how the impression of the patterns change/move WITH the various lightconditions, such as shadow/
highlights. Being a photographer by profession we learn about how light and COLORTEMPERATURE affects our surroundings and how it´s being reflected upon whatever is in the different light settings..
Example. If we bring a white sheet of paper into an area of green leaves as opposed to an area of sand and photograph the same sheet of paper, we will se a distinct difference to those two pictures white impression… Also the colortemperature in everyday light change during the course of the day ,and type of weather… SO, where ever we are, the light will allways reflect upon us while we try to camoflage ourselves… So, in order to compose a sucsessfull multi purpose camoflsge it is important to use the specter we have in the so called midtones, which easily pick up the surrounding light, and reflect it, helping our “invinsibility… However, areas of dark colors (contrast) helps break up the anatomy of whatever surronding
    topography…. :-)
