Toby Stephens is set to star opposite Maria Bello in NBC’s drama pilot Prime Suspect. The remake of the iconic British series starring Helen Mirren centers on Jane Timoney (Bello), an iconoclastic female detective who has to make her bones in a tough New York precinct that is dominated by men. Stephens will play Jane’s live-in boyfriend who is fighting his ex-wife to allow their son to stay with him and Jane. Brit Stephens, repped by Paradigm and U.K.’s Independent, recently starred opposite Lucy Punch in the BBC dramedy Vexed and in the play The Real Thing at The Old Vic.
Guillermo Diaz (NBC’s Mercy) has joined the cast of ABC’s untitled Shonda Rhimes pilot, which revolves around the life and work of professional fixer Olivia Price (Kerry Washington) and her dysfunctional staff. Diaz will play a paralegal in the crisis management office who is also an expert hacker and does what he is told. He joins previously cast Columbus Short, Henry Ian Cusick and Katie Lowes. Diaz, repped by Innovative, Meghan Schumacher and Jill McGrath, recurs on ABC’s No Ordinary Family.
Adam Campbell has become the first actor cast in NBC’s comedy pilot My Life As an Experiment. The Sony/Reveille project exec produced by Jack Black, centers on magazine immersion journalist A.J. Wilder who explores all sorts of unique experience. Campbell will play his boss, the editor-in-chief of the magazine he works for.
