My family has/had one of those, except the handle was metal. We use it for camping. It's not very good.

My guess is this shovel is meant to save the chinese military a lot of money. They have 3.5 million soldiers. Imagine the extra cost if you have to pay for a shovel AND a multitool/army knife for all of them.
