Originally a side-project of Explodin' Dr Jaggers Flymo, who was at the time the drummer for Scrawm. The full quintet line-up was recruited for the band's second demo, Mowdeer.

Qualcast Mutilator's "Koffee" alias was inspired by a Sodom interview in Kerrang! where Frank Blackfire joked about changing his stage name to "Coffee Percolator".
