Gamepads and Joysticks which support the lowlevel.library are supported by Heretic II. The movement buttons are mapped to the according forward, backward, turn left, turn right movements, the Shoulder Buttons are mapped to sidestep left and sidestep right, and the four action-buttons can be mapped using the options screen. They will be listed as JOY1 to JOY4. Additionally supported are Playstation Joypads, if a PSX Port Device is attached to the Amiga. Action Buttons are mapped to JOY1 to JOY4 and AUX1 to AUX5. The analog pads of Playstation Controllers are supported. PSX Port needs the psxport.device which comes with PSX Port installed. Some lowlevel.library-using Gamecontrollers do not support the autorecognition of lowlevel.library. If you come upon such a device, you still can use it with Heretic II, by setting the controller type manually using the console variables joy_force0 to joy_force3 (the number applies to the Gamecontroller port the device is plugged in). Allowed values are GAMECTRL, MOUSE, JOYSTICK and AUTOSENSE. The default is AUTOSENSE for all four variables, as most devices support the autorecognition.
