The band name is taken from "Masque of the Red Death", a piece of literature by Edgar Allan Poe.

Graham Mitchell, Joshua Williammee, and Paul Hamblin were in a band called Another Day Forgotten from Bath. When that band broke up, they formed The Red Death.
