Details of the incident : On Saturday January 19th, 2019, a man who identified himself as Trever Schafer, came into my camera shop. He said he was in Albuquerque for his grandmother's funeral and forgot his camera back home in Lake Stevens, WA. I initially rented him a Canon 7D with a lens. He presented his Washington State ID with a Lake Stevens address that said Trever Schafer. I took a picture of his license. He paid for the rental with a visa gift card. Almost immediately, he returned and asked for a Nikon camera instead. I agreed and exchanged the Canon for a Nikon D7000 and 18-105mm lens. I told him he needed to return it by 10AM the following Monday to avoid a late fee and additional cost. He returned a short time later and asked if he could also rent a zoom lens. He presented a credit card that he said I could run for the additional charges in a few hours. He would leave the card with me as a deposit and an auto draft of funds would come through at 6PM, NM time. At that time I would be able to run the card for the additional rental charges. I rented him the Nikon 70-200mm lens. At 6PM I tried to run the card and it would only authorize an amount less than $5.00. I called the credit card company (Net Gear) and they told me it was a valid card. When Mr. Shafer did not return with my equipment on Jan. 21st, 2019, I tried to call him numerous times at (206)528-7585. It is not a valid phone number.
